Trouble is i havent played the previous titles so im unsure id understand whats going on. I finally got a machine capable of running witcher 3 and just wondering if i need to play the others in order to fully enjoy this one.

Do i need to play the first two witcher games. So i skipped the second game however the newthird game seems to be getting. I couldnt really get past the first 3h in witcher 1 the game. This may come across as a troll post but i genuinally dont mean it that way.
With all the hype for witcher 3 i bought the first two parts on pc in order to get the story and prepare myself for the game but. Witcher 2 would certainly help but the game witcher 3 definitely gives you enough information to keep you up to speed. I got past the city and was at a part where i had been dumped back in the wilderness somewhere and just lost interest since i thought that if the plot was going to get good it wouldve already by that point.
I played most of the first one but frankly the story was extremely boring for me. The plot of the first two games is only marginally relevant. It felt clunky and well poorly made.
I actually tried the first witcher several several years ago and to be honest i didnt like it. But to answer your question no you dont need to have played the first two games to be able to play this one. They made it that way the idea being to lure in people who know nothing about the franchise but only were interested in it because of they hype surrounding it.
Youll do just fine as youre the prime target for the game. The plot of the books is very relevant if you care about having an in depth understanding of every single thing. If you dont care then youre good to go because the game itself will give you enough info to have a general grasp of things.
Im thinking about getting the witcher 3 on ps4 since everyone seems to recommend it.
